Student clash at J'pura University brought under control

by Ananda Kannangara

A clash between two student factions at the Sri Jayawardanapura University yesterday over the delay of payment of the Mahapola Scholarship arrears was brought under control by Police.

Making a comment on yesterday's clash, a senior student alleged that the members of the University Students Association who frequently disrupt the studies at the University is behind this clash. This is not the first time that this so called student's association has created trouble within the university premises. They are alleged to be responsible for the recent closing down of the university for several months.

It is reported that due to yesterday's clash several students had to seek medical treatment.

When contacted the university authorities said that this situation will not hamper the educational activities of the university.
