The Textile Training and Services Centre's Diploma in Textile Technology course which was inaugurated in 2001 was able to accredit as fulfilling the academic requirements for the (LTI) Licentiateship of the Textile Institute (LTI) - UK for the period 2003 to 2008 within three years.

The duration of this program is 15 months (full time) and is aimed at school-leavers who passed the GCE (A/L) and are unable to enter the universities due to limited intake by the universities.

The syllabus for this course includes - Fibre and yarn technology, Fabric technology - both woven and knitted, Dyeing and Finishing, Quality Management, Productivity and Industrial Engineering, Garment Technology Engineering - Electrical and Mechanical, General Management, Marketing and Management and Financial Accounting. In addition the students will be provided with two months mill training in Textile and Garment Factories.

Since the course was inaugurated in two batches 29 students have successfully completed this Diploma Program. The students who have completed the course are gainfully employed in Textiles and Garment factories, Buying Offices and Raw Material Suppliers.

The certification of accreditation was presented by R. U. Kuruppu, Chairman, Textile Institute - Sri Lanka Section to D. P. Gunawardena - Director - TT & SC recently.
