New rail sub station for Erukkalampitti

A new Railway Sub-Station was opened on Sunday September 14 at Erukkalampitti-Nagavillu, on the Puttalam-Chilaw line. Minister of Transport, Defence and Civil Aviation opened the Station.

Around 3000 families of whom 1500 are from the Erukkalampitti resettlement will benefit by this new Railway Station. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Minister Marapone said that peace is being enjoyed by the people due to the efforts of the Prime Minister also does not discriminate between communities.

"We cannot continue with development work like this if peace is not restored. Even I would not have been able to come - if there was no peace.

The Prime Minister is trying his best to restore permanent peace, Marapone said. Minister of Vanni District Rehabilitation Noordeen Mashoor, said that Muslims are for peace, at all times and assured the backing of the Muslim community for the ongoing efforts of the Government to restore peace.

"This Railway Station will not benefit only the Refugees - but also the permanent residents. When I went to Malaysia with our Prime Minister recently, we were very happy at the way that country has developed. Our country too must achieve similar development.

Permanent peace will be established very soon in our country," Mashoor said. The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Railway Authority - P. H. Manatunga, District Secretary - Ravi Jayalath Dissanayake, Chairman of the Puttalam Pradeshiya Sabha - K. Karunatilake and P/S Member, S. H. M. Niyas also spoke.
