Colombo Super League :

Sampath and Track Master Cager champs

by Ken de Joodt

What a fitting finale it was at the splendid Colombo Super League Basketball tournament, when Sampath Bank and Track Master won the Men's and Women's "A" Division championships respectively, over the weekend. It was a mighty explosion of blistering basketball, which enthraled the large crowd of basketball fans, at the Police Depot Courts, Bambalapitiya.

As the Chief Guest Dian Gomez, Managing Director, Slimline (Pvt) Ltd, expressed, Sri Lanka basketball has gained new ground through this tournament and the Colombo District Basketball Association has been a great encouragement to all the players. MOL, represented by Ranjan Paiva, were the main sponsors, backed by Suren Raghaven, M.D. TDS Holdings and Maersk Logistics Lanka (Pvt Ltd represented by Rohan Rodrigo.

Track Master beat Josephians by 76 pts to 34 pts in the final of the "A" Division, while in the Men's "A" Division final Sampath Bank beat Police by 77 pts to 51 pts.
