Former Vidyartha ruggerite passes away

George Jayasena, the former Vidyartha College and Kandy ruggerite of the sixties and seventies is no more, a schoolmate of mine, we have been in the School Old Boys Union for a long spell.

Late Jayasena is one of the proud products of Vidyartha College, his demise was informed to me by my colleague Hafiz Marikar MMC yesterday that my friend George Jayasena has passed away. It was a shock to me. George Jayasena was born in Polonnaruwa, came to Kandy to do his schooling, at Vidyartha College, where he excelled in all sports, but it was the game rugby he loved so much. He was also a fine cricketer and was a senior cadet. His funeral will take place on Wednesday, at the Mahiyawa Cemetery, and all Old Boys are requested to attend the funeral.

May he attain Nibbana.

L. B. Aluwihare, Deputy Mayor, Kandy
