Arnold 95 helps NCC

Russel Arnold hit an unbeaten knock of 93 as he guided NCC to a resounding 96 run win over their traditional rivals SSC in their annual limited overs cricket match played for the J. R. Jayewardena memorial trophy at the NCC grounds, Maitland Place yesterday.

Arnold also won the man of the match award while Kumar Sangakkara who smashed a superb 60 was named best batsman. Thilina Thushara who captured 3 for 24 for NCC was picked as the best bowler while Chamara Silva of SSC won the best fielders award.

NCC: 274 for 5 in 50 overs (Russel Arnold 93 n.o, Kumar Sangakkara 60, Upul Chandana 27 n.o, Thilina Thushara 2 for 43, Dilhara Fernando 2 for 68).

SSC: 178 in 39.2 overs (Marvan Atapattu 59, Chamara Silva 48, Thilina Thushara 3 for 24, Russel Arnold 2 for 16) D.W.
