Nalanda College Under-16 'B' team kept their unbeaten record when they beat C.W.w. Kannangara Vidyalaya, Mathugama, in the School's Division II final played at Campbell park recently.

Nalanda Juniors, coached by Sanjeewa Mendis, beat Asoka Vidyalaya, St. Thomas' College - Kotte, Hindu College, President's College - Maharagama, Ranpokunugama Vidyalaya, D.S. Senanayake Vidyalaya 'B', Bandaranayake Vidyalaya - Veyangoda, Dharmaloka Vidyalaya - Kelaniya in the runner-up to the final.

In the final, Nalanda College registered an easy 7 wickets victory over C.W.W. Kannangara Vidyalaya - batting first, Matugama School could muster only 112 runs towards which T. Samarasinghe contributed 50 runs. Chief destroyer was Nalanda paceman Chathuranga Wickremasinghe who captured 4 for 29. Chanka Anusanga 2 for 22, Niran Perera 2 for 28, Bojith Vithanage 2 for 38 also bowled well.

Nalanda batsmen scored 113 for 3 wickets in only 33.4 overs to take the championship. Chanka Anusanga top scored with 43 runs while Asitha Eranda chipped in with 34. Division II champion team from Nalanda was represented by Manoj Manatunga (capt.), Subodhaka Sriyaratne (Vice capt.), Niran Perera, Chathuranga Wickremasinghe, Chanka Anusanga, Oshadie Kumarasiri, Omesh Gunatilleke, Bojith Vithanage, Varuna Hasantha, Teshan Sampath, Asitha Eranda, Pasindu Vikum, Chilan de Silva, Kaveen Lakmal, Shehan Shanthiratne. Manoj Prasanna was the Master-in-Charge.

Nalanda notched up the required runs losing three wickets in only 33. 4 overs.

C.W.W. Kannangara: 112 all out in 40 overs. (T. Samarasinghe 50, Chaturanga Wickramasinghe 4 for 29, Chanka Anushanga 2 for 28, Bojith Witanage 2 for 38).

Nalanda 113 for 3 wickets in 33. 4 overs. (Chanka Anushanga 43 not out, Asitha Eranda 34).
