Under ten students of Dhamma School appeal to Prime Minister

The Bodhirajaramaya is the smallest Vihara in the Central Province, situated on a cross section of the hill at Galewatte Colony, Buwelikade, Kandy. During the last heavy rains and also previously the hill rising from the road leading to homesteads in the colony because of heavy vehicular traffic of the Sri Lanka Army Signals' School, has slipped right up to the Sanghavasa and the Dharma Salawa of the Vihara. The large and old Bodhi too is in danger of falling over.

The founder and Chief Incumbent of the Vihara Venerable Malagamma Dhammajothi, Adhikarana Sangha Nayaka of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Nikaya of the Udarata, has submitted memoranda to the Provincial Council and the Kandy Municipal Council to build a retaining wall to arrest the hill slipping, as the slipping is caused by the expansion of the road when the Sri Lanka Army Signals' School was established at the summit of the hill. Further slips will block the entire road that leads to the Army School and the homesteads of the colonists.

There is no responsive action taken by the authorities due to lack of funds. The under ten students of the Vihara's Sri Sugatha Dhamma School realizing that Vihara and school will be devastated have appealed to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, under their own signature to release funds to the Central Province Development Minister to undertake the following constructions early.

(1) Build the retaining wall (2) Build the Bodhi protective wall with. Malasanas. (now Buddha statues are kept at the foot of tree on the ground and worshipped). (3) Lay the concrete slab 30 ft by 20 ft above the pillars and walls of the half built Dharma Salawa for them to study in the hall (4) Build a roadway from the road to the Vihara. Rohan L Jayatileke
