French shipping line to commence services here A leading shipping line in France will commence its service through the Colombo Port this month. CMA-CGM line in France is the 5th international shipping line to commence services through the Colombo Port during the course of this year, the Ministry of port Development and shipping said yesterday. The Port rotation of the new service through Colombo Port will be port Kelang of Malaysia, Odessa of Ukraene, Constanza of Romania, Istanbul of Turkey, Piracus of Greece and Port said of Egypt, Ningbo and Shanlai of China. The new shipping line namely "Bosphrous Express service" emerges as a result of the spear leading programme implemented by the Port of Colombo on the advice of Minister of Port Development and Shipping Rauff Hakeem which will promote the shipping service in Sri Lanka Chairman, Sri Lanka Ports Authority said Prakrama Dissanayake. The first ship "M.V. Cordonia" will call over at the Port of Colombo on 26th September and the six other main line vessels coming under the new service are M.V. Carpathia, M.V. Douce France, M.V. Fort Royal, M.V. Fort Dasax, M.V. Brishbane and M.V.E.R. Albany. The Port of Colombo has commenced four Shipping services during the course of this year. They are "Super Galex service" by Norasia/CMA-CGM/Gold Star/Hanjin with six vessles, "Strait Red Sea Service"/SRX Service) East bound by Cosco/Evergreen/Wan Hai/Hapag Lloyd with - vessles Euro Galex Service west bound. Europe/Middle East/Indian sub-continet, by Norasia/MOL with 06 vessles. Presently nearly 40 shipping lines operate through the Colombo Port. |
