Communication centers to nab criminals by Sarath Malalasekera Seven Police Communication Centres linked to the IGP's Instructions and Information Division have been set up throughout the country to alert police stations and other units to apprehend criminals fleeing after committing murders, robberies and other crimes. The public can help apprehend criminals by providing information over the telephone about their movements to the IGP's Information Unit or the Communication Centres. Informants can identify themselves or remain anonymous. Police will consider the information and the informant's identity strictly confidential. The IGP's Command Information Division covers the entire country and could be contacted on 01 - 2854880 or 01- 2854885.
