Lankan shooters for South Africa For the first time a Metallic Silhouette Shooting Team from Sri Lanka comprising eight members will take part at the South Africa Open National Matallic Silhouette Shooting Championship in South Africa. The competition will commence on the 23rd of September and go on till the 27th of September 2003. A large number of countries are expected to take part in this International Meet. Lankan Rifle shooters having qualified from the trials held in Sri Lanka are expected to put up a strong team. They will take part in all the rifle events. The events to be competed by Lankans are Big Bore Silhouette Rifle, Big Bore Light Rifle, Small Bore Silhouette Rifle and Small Bore Light Rifle. The Team will comprise 8 competitors and officials as follows. Shanaka Perera, Ruwini Abeymanne, Michael Daniells, Benjamin Fernando, Captain Tushara Daluwatte, IP - Marlon Pigera, Janaka Wickremasurendra, Lt. Colonel Kenneth Edema Lt. Col Edema will accompany the Team as the Team Manager. Silhouette Shooting which has caught on very successfully in the world seems to have made its mark into the Sri Lankan Shooters as well, with keen interest and increased participation for these competitions. The National Rifle Association of Sri Lanka conducts all Silhouette Shooting competitions and is responsible for the promotion and facilitation of this sport. |
