Minister inaugurates HDFC Bank Housing Development and Finance Corporation (HDFC) which was recently converted to a specialised housing bank was inaugurated as HDFC Bank by the Minister of Housing and Plantation Infrastructure Arumugam Thondaman yesterday. C. Sarathchandra, Chief Executive Officer, HDFC Bank said that the conversion into a specialised housing bank would enable HDFC to cater to the housing needs of a wider sector of the public. He said the Bank will introduce new loan schemes targeting low and middle income earners in keeping with the Government's effort to solve the housing problem in the country. "We will be able to provide an efficient service to customers by reducing time in disbursing loans. We will also assist them in getting their plans approved and attend to other legal and technical matters," Sarathchandra said. The Chairman A. Kandappah said that HDFC would be able to increase its market share in the housing sector in the future as a result of the conversion. He said the HDFC's success has been mainly due to the commitment of the staff. |
