Kuliyapitiya Group Correspondent Party politics has ruined this country for half a century. It is high time to introduce a novel political culture devoid of conflicts, party politics and violence, Sarvodaya Leader Dr. A. T. Ariyaratna said addressing the 45th anniversary celebration of the Sarvodaya Movement. The ceremony was held in Moonamaldeniya Sri Pushparama Vihara. Dr. Ariyaratna added that during the last 45 years, the Sarvodaya has tried to build a social structure with unity and non-violence by way of developing the humanity. NGOs spring up like mushrooms in the country. Sarvodaya works for the people for their well-being, changing their visions and attitudes for the betterment of the mankind. Our vision is peace, equity, non-violence and brotherhood. We rehabilitated a tank to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the movement. A few hundreds of Shramadana workers from all over the country worked there for three days. Tamils from the North and Muslims from the East worked there as the members of the same family. The rehabilitation of the tank rehabilitated the humanity among those who participated in it. Our solution for the violence is non-violence. Mercy for the hatred. That is our vision. If we commit the same wrongs, the LTTE committed in the past as if tit for tat, will we be able to achieve the peace? When I say these it is alleged that Ariyaratne is for the Tamils. My mercy is not restricted only to Sinhalese but also to the mankind. All the communities are alike for the Sarvodaya. Even the small children in America are taught the Four Noble Truth. While America is marching towards the right vision our people with heritage of 2,500 years of right vision go after the myths. Sarvodaya advocates a conflict-free, non-violent society that treat the dignity of every community alike. |
