400 more CTB buses to be repaired

The Transport Ministry has launched a programme to repair around 400 buses attached to CTB cluster companies.

A spokesman for the Ministry said the programme has been initiated in addition to the attachment of 900 buses which will be equipped with new tyres and batteries to the operational fleet of CTB depots.

Accordingly, the Ministry has informed all cluster company heads to send details of buses removed from operations due to the lack of spare parts and other minor equipment, to the Ministry Secretary. According to the spokesman, five such buses from each of the 93 CTB depots islandwide will be repaired under the project which runs parallel to the Government's Rs 100 million program to provide tyres, tubes and batteries to non-operating buses.

"We have already received the required details from most of the companies and the repairs will be effected once the information is received and assessed," he said.
