Uni Dil bags highest number of awards

Uni Dil Packaging (Pvt) Limited bagged the highest number of awards at the 4th National Convention held by the Sri Lanka Association for Advancement of Quality and Productivity at the BMICH recently.

They secured six awards including the Award for the Best CEO of the Best Employee Involvement Organisation. The General Manager of Uni Dil, Don Bennet Gamalath was sworn as the Best CEO at the convention.

As a new entrant for the competition, the company won the first place in Service Sector Quality Circle competition, the award for the most creative presentation in the manufacturing sector, the award for best usage of the seven tools in Continuous Improvement implementation, the 2nd Runner-up award for the best Kaizen Suggestion and the award for the best poster in the mercantile sector.

Uni Dil is a subsidiary of Ceylon Theatres Group of companies. The core business of the company is producing and selling corrugated cartons. The company sells its products mainly to the export sector of the country. The company's clientele mainly includes tea, garments, aquatic, food, tiles and ceramic companies.

During the last three years the company has implemented new management tools such as 5'S', Kaizen Suggestion Schemes, Quality Circles, Continuous Improvement projects, TPM and Kanban, right across the operations. The company won the Runner-up award for the best 5'S' implementation in last year's Convention organised by JASTECA.

During the last three years the company achieved excellent results through team work. The management of the company highly believes in human skills and has taken several steps in this connection.

All levels of people in the organisation participate in decision-making process and they engage in developmental activities voluntarily.

The company shares the benefits with the employees and consequently shares a part of its profit. With all these, the employees of the organisation have become very creative and self performing, a company press release said.
