Pakistan detains 26 Taliban CHAMAN, Pakistan, Sunday (Reuters) Pakistan has detained 26 Taliban in a raid on an Islamic seminary near the border with Afghanistan in the south of the country, a regional head of the Border Security Force said on Saturday. The official, Colonel Abdul Basit, told reporters in the Pakistani border town of Chaman that the been arrested late on Friday at a border village, Kali Rangeen. Hand grenades, radio communication sets, audio-video cassettes and secret documents had been found in the possession of the arrested group, aged between 18 and 28 years, Basit added. It was not immediately known whether these Taliban had been involved in violence in Afghanistan or Pakistan, he said. |
