Pakistan u-19 win match and series by Chris Dhambarage reporting from Galle GALLE, Friday - The touring Pakistan under 19 team cruised to a convincing nine wicket win over the Sri Lanka under-19 side in the third one day match played at the Galle International Stadium here today. The visitors also took an unbeatable 3 nil lead in the series with the last two games to be played in Colombo. This was another fantastic performance from the young Pakistan side who completely outplayed the Lankans in both batting and bowling. First it was Jehangir Mizra who excelled by capturing four wickets for 24 runs in 6.3 overs. As a result the Lankans collapsed to 188 runs in 48.3 overs after they had being put into bat. The openers Upul Tharanga and Damindu Kularatne gave them a good start putting on 54 runs. They reached a commanding 124 for 3 at the half way stage of the innings and were well set to launch an assault on the Pakistani bowling during the last ten overs. However with the introduction of Jehangir Mizra the game took a dramatic turn as Sri Lanka lost their last five wickets for just 12 runs. Pakistan in reply planned their innings quite beautifully and reached their target with more than two overs to spare. Skipper Khalid Latif led the way with an unbeaten knock of 94 off 157 deliveries with the help of five sixes and the same number of boundaries. Sri Lanka of course had an early success as they got rid off the hard hitting Nazir Jamshed with only 16 runs on the board. |
