Airport service delivery manager gives evidence by Sandasen Marasinghe "A particular Air Line is responsible for the delays which occur at the airport said Ingrid Kethleen Guruge (51), Airport Service Delivery Manager giving evidence before Additional City Coroner M. Ashroff Rumy on Tuesday in connection with the incident of the death of Gunadasa Kapuge. "According to the agreement our main task is ground handling, that is to take the passengers to the planes and to transport them to the terminal when they alighted from the planes". She further promised to produce a copy of the agreement between SriLankan Airlines and Czech Air Lines before the Additional City Coroner on September 2. The witness further observed that the air lines by which the passengers fly should attend to the travails and tribulations suffered by the passengers. On April 2, the day in question her assistant was on duty and when she reported at the airport, she was informed of the incident. She learnt that a person who was injured by falling was removed to the medical centre by one of their staff members. Visharada Gunadasa Kapuge who was returning from a tour to Dubai had an accidental fall at the Katunayake Airport and died on April 2. |
