The official signing of the deed of trust for the setting up of the proposed Jathika Namal Uyana Conservation and Development Trust Fund will take place at the Prime Minister's office at Sir Ernest de Silva Mawatha, Colombo on August 21 at 3 p.m. Secretary to the Prime Minister Bradman Weerakoon will preside. The proposed fund will be utilised to conserve the Jathika Namal Uyana reserve which contains Asia's biggest and oldest Pink Quartz deposit for purposes of education scientific research and tourism by setting up an environment education and research centre in the region. The signing ceremony will be attended by the founder of the Jathika Namal Uyana Conservation Project Ven. Wanawasi Rahula Thera, Secretaries to the Ministers of Environment and Natural Resources, Tourism and Human Resources, Development Education and Cultural Affairs as well as directors General of Forest Conservation and Archaeology, Anuradhapura district Secretary, Secretary to the North Central Provincial Ministry of Tourism, Palagala Divisional secretary and Chairman Palagala Pradeshiya Sabha. |
