CtP technology to revolutionise Lanka's Printing Industry

Imageline (Pvt) Ltd., took the printing industry to new heights with the introduction of the world's most advanced CtP (Computer to Plate) technology to Sri Lanka. This pioneering effort is expected to elevate the local printing standards to meet the challenges of the new millennium, a spokesman for the company said.

The greatest benefit offered by CtP technology is the elimination of conventional CMYK films in the colour separation process.

As this technology provides for photographs, pictures and text to be copied directly on to the plate, during the Offset Printing process there is no generation loss.

By taking advantage of the superior printing quality of the CtP technology, now the local printing fraternity can offer a service that is on par with the best in the world. This will open new avenues of opportunity for our printers who can match international printing quality standards at a more competitive price, he said.

The world leader Dainippon Screen of Japan, is the manufacturer of this technology which comes with the patented Specta Dot. Imageline takes great pride in introducing this feature which will enhance print quality beyond expectations and take away the biggest obstacle in Offset Printing - the Moir Effect. The unnecessary patterns due to dot gains which reduce the sharpness of an image will be a thing of the past with the CtP technology, he said.

In an effort to upgrade the industry, Imageline hopes to offer a package of other complementing services.

A plate baking machine will bake the plates after the separation process so that the printer could re-use the same plate many times over. A special page planning system will plan the material for printing. A Pantone approved colour digital proof will allow any last minute correction to be made prior to outputting the plates.

According to the spokesman at Imageline "a special 24-hour customer care point will be set up at the Imageline premises at Jayarathne Mawatha, Colombo 5 so that their valued customers have access to these cutting-edge services whenever they need".
