The Economic Development Commission (EDC) and Industrial Services Bureau (ISB) in Wayamba have earmarked a series of projects for development.

Among them are the Dendro power plant in Wayamba, the wind power project in Batthangunduwa Island of Kalpitiya, setting up two mini hydro projects and promotion of environmentally friendly coconut shell burning kilns developed by the ISB.

There will be several other programs to provide marketing facilities and business ideas to prospective entrepreneurs on a regular basis and to set up a Juki machine training centre and further improve industrial parks managed by ISB.These issues were discussed at a meeting presided over by Chairman EDC Lalith Kotelawala with ISB officials last week.

At this meeting Kotelawala also instructed the officials of EDC to make arrangements to have a permanent desk for the ISB at EDC office so that prospective entrepreneurs could be better served with the highly diversified and professionalised service package of ISB. He also instructed the officials of Seylan Bank to make use of the expertise of ISB in business idea generation, formulation of projects and project evaluation through a formal mechanism.

Gamini Senanayake, Director of ISB outlined novel project ideas that have been conceived by ISB through the accumulated knowledge of over 12 years in the field of industrial services and investment promotion.
