SLPA opens fully Computerised Customer Service centre For the convenience of importers the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) has opened a fully Computerised Customer Service centre at the Colombo Port, a press release from the Ministry of Port Development and Shipping said. Prior to the establishment of this Customer Service Centre importers and consignees had to visit various places with their delivery documents for the purpose of processing and authorisation of their documents. The new Customer Service Centre for LCL and break bulk cargo minimise their waiting time and facilities have been provided to complete their delivery activities quickly through the electronic media. The centre has been electronically linked with all warehouses, so that the warehouse staff can verify the documents and assure that the Sri Lanka Ports Authority charges have been properly recovered before effecting the delivery of cargo. To facilitate the importers and Port users arrangements have already been made with the commencement of LCL Customer Service Centre to feed the details of the De-stuffing program of LCL cargo into the Sri Lanka Ports Authority web site for on line reference. The LCL Customer Service Centre is one of the achievements of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority in effecting customer oriented policies, the release said. |
