This is the first ever attempt made to study and analyze the Law relating to the Privileges of Parliament in Sri Lanka which plays a crucial role in the smooth functioning of a Democratic Government.

The study covers many aspects of the law including history, nature and scope of privileges, breach of privileges and allied matters, punitive power of Parliament, power of the Supreme Court in the area of parliamentary privileges, conflict of jurisdiction and the areas where the reforms are needed. The reference has been made to some other jurisdictions to set the subject in its comparative perspective. The language used is simple and lucid.

The book can be useful not only for lawyers but also for those interested in the values of a democratic society.
