Avishka tipped to lead Lanka 'A' Five players from the national cricket academy were selected into the Sri Lanka 'A' squad in preparation for the forthcoming triangular series against India 'A' and Pakistan 'A' teams. Tharanga Paranavithana, Janaka Gunaratne, Jeevan Mendis, Sahan Wijeratne and Omesh Wijesiriwardena are the five players who have been rewarded following some outstanding contributions in the BCCSL under 23 tournament which is now in progress. The Sri Lanka 'A' squad also includes three promising schoolboys Farveez Maharoof, Upul Tharanga and Suraj Mohamed. The former in fact was earlier named captain of the Sri Lanka under 19 side ahead of their home series against Pakistan which gets underway this week. Test cap Avishka Gunawardena is tipped to captain the Sri Lanka 'A' team and the other test players in the squad are Michael van Dort, Jehan Mubarak, Prasanna Jayawardena, Lanka de Silva, Russel Arnold, Hasantha Fernando and Nuwan Soysa.
