UNP Working Committee discusses Emirates MoU

The Working Committee of the United National Party, which met on Monday took up the issue regarding the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) entered into between the Government of Sri Lanka and Emirates Airlines.

Minister of Transport, Highways and Aviation Tilak Marapana said that negotiations regarding the MoU were conducted under his direction and the Economic Policy Committee of the Cabinet approved the agreement at the meeting held on May 6 which was presided over by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at which Minister of Finance K. N. Choksy and Minister Marapana were also present among other ministers.

Marapana had said that the MoU amended the original agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka and Emirates Airlines in terms favourable to Sri Lanka.

He also said that issues purportedly raised by Attorney General K. C. Kamalasabayson on the MoU will be discussed later.
