News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | Arrest warrant against PA MP, five others by Warnajith Sumanasekera An arrest on sight order was issued yesterday, (Aug. 05) against PA Parliamentarian Janaka Bandara Tennekone and five others who are alleged to have stormed the house of a UNP supporter and threatened him with death. The order was made by Dambulla Magistrate Saliya Perera, when the Dambulla Police produced two suspects before him on a complaint made by a UNP supporter. According to the complaint made to the Dambulla Police on August 04, the two suspects were members of a group of supporters of Janaka Bandara Tennekone who are allegedly gone to the UNP supporter's house and abused him with threats of murder saying that he and his UNP activists have destroyed the decorations hoisted for the PA Matale District Convention organized to be held at Janaka Bandara Tennekone's residence on August 03. Meanwhile, the area organizer of the Matale Electorate too had complained to the Dambulla Police that this particular UNP supporter assaulted and threatened him. The Dambulla Magistrate, having considered both complaints remanded the two suspects as well as the complainant and issued warrants on the remaining 6 suspects including Janaka Bandara Tennekone and fixed an Identification Parade for August 19. Investigations are continuing under CIP Sudath Asmadala, HQI, Dambulla Police. |
