Sri Sumana Saman Maha Devale Perahera

The historic Deraniyagala Sri Sumana Saman Maha Devale Esala Perahera commenced with a 'Kap' planting ceremony on July 30th at 6.18 a.m. This time the Devale celebrates its 418th annual perahera.

August 6 - Randoli perahera round the temple premises. August 7, 8, 9 - Perahera round the Devale.

August 10 - The maha perahera preceeded by decorated elephants and dancers, presided by the area MP and Minister of Samurdhi, R.A.D. Sirisena, will be conducted along the main street.

August 12 - The maha perahera will be conducted, organised by the Traders Association.

August 13 - Water cutting ceremony early in the morning at the Sitawaka Ganga. The Mahapola Management Board under the Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Affairs will conduct its 222nd Mahapola exhibition and an educational exhibition at the Sri Saman MMV presided by Minister R.A.D. Sirisena.

A special bus service has been arranged and police security is assured.
