Siri Pura is the last village in the North Central border, neighbouring the North East. This area including Padaviya and Welioya has been under several attacks by the LTTE. Now peace has dawn on the 75,000 Sinhala residents living in this area rich in Cultural Heritage. The history dates back to more than 5000 years, says the Chief Incumbent of Siri Pura Rajamaha Vihara Rev. Panditha Siridhamma Thera who is a walking encyclopaedia. His authority on Sri Lankan history is fantastic. The Hela age he describes is the period before of Mythical King Ravana.
