Acid test for Isipatana

Isipatana College will face an acid test when they confront the unbeaten Kingswood College team in their Milo Schools President's trophy knock-out rugby tournament third quarterfinal match at the Sugathadasa Stadium today.

The fourth and final quarterfinal match of the tournament between St. Anthony's College and Dharmaraja College which was also scheduled to be worked off at the Sugathadasa Stadium today has been shifted to the Bogambara Stadium Kandy at the request of the two schools.

Kingswood College are certain to stretch the strong Isipatana outfit to the maximum after a successful league tournament and a close game is on the cards. Kingswood are confident after being crowned as the Milo Schools 'B' division league champions with a total of six victories to their credit. They seem to have the talent and the potential with them to pressurise any opposition and will be determined to create another major upset.

Isipatana of course finished in the third place in the Milo Schools 'A' division league tournament and they will be hoping to produce an improved performance. But their very first game in the knock-out tournament is a tough assignment and will be under pressure from the kick off. Isipatana recorded some impressive victories in the league tournament and their only defeat was at the hands of Royal College the Milo 'A' division league champions for 2003.

Kingswood Colleges began the season with a stunning win over their traditional rivals Wesley College and from there onwards they have never looked back recording important victories over Ananda College and St. Joseph's College.

Meanwhile, S. Thomas' College Mount Lavinia and Wesley College have already qualified to play in one semi-final next Saturday at the Sugathadasa Stadium with the final scheduled for August 16 at the same venue. (C.D.)
