NCCSL to promote INTRAD 2003 in China

An 11-member delegation headed by Mrs. N S M Samaratunga, Deputy President of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) assisted by Lal de Alwis, Senior Council Member of NCCSL and the Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka China Business Co-operation Council and Jagath Nawaratne, Council Member NCCSL, and CEOs of several other companies will join the delegation led by the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to the People's Republic of China from August 9 to 13.

The highlight of this program will be the Prime Minister's meeting with the Chinese business sector in Beijing on August 11. The NCCSL has been provided with a 10-minute slot at the Prime Minister's meeting to make a presentation on INTRAD 2003. INTRAD 2003 Exhibition and Investor Forum under the theme "Regaining Sri Lanka - Invest in our Infrastructure" is a mega event organised by the Chamber to bring investors from the world over to rebuild our infrastructure destroyed, badly damaged or neglected, as a result of 20 years of war. This will be an excellent opportunity to encourage the Chinese investors to visit the Exhibition and Investor Forum to be held from November 28 to 30 at the BMICH.

NCCSL was also present at the Tokyo Donor Conference followed by the Prime Minister's meeting with Japanese Business Community in June 2003. NCCSL promoted INTRAD and has had extremely favourable responses from the Japan Chamber of Commerce.

In the afternoon of August 11, the NCCSL delegation will have one to one business meetings arranged by Upali Ubayasekera, Minister Commercial of Sri Lanka Embassy in Beijing, to promote their respective businesses. Thereafter Mrs. N S M Samaratunga will go to Shanghai to promote INTRAD. NCCSL is hopeful of attracting a large investor contingent from China to visit INTRAD 2003.

The NCCSL delegation comprises Mrs. N S M Samaratunga, Director, Mackwoods Ltd, Lal De Alwis, Managing Director, Chemanex Ltd, Jagath Nawaratne, Managing Director, V Com Heavy Engineering Ltd., Ajith M S P Wathuhewa, Director, Central Precured Retraders (Pvt) Ltd., K Chandran, Director, Jayes Trading Company, Mrs. M T de Alwis, Dr. C N A Nonis, Director, Mackwoods Ltd, Milton Perera, Proprietor, Kusumsiri Motor Traders, Dr. M G M Surfick, Director, Falcon International Ltd, Wang Ji Ping, Director, CL Intl.
