BOI signs Investment Agreements worth over Rs. 3.5 billion The Board of Investment (BOI) signed investment agreements worth over Rs. 3.5 billion last week. Among them were the joint venture between the Ceylon Fisheries Corporation and CB Informprogress Bank of Russia worth Rs. 838 million to set up a fish processing plant, a Rs. 188 million investment by Australian Construction and Property Development for the setting up of an apartment complex, a Rs. 100 million investment by Phoenix Investments Ltd. for managing off shore companies, a Rs. 5.8 billion investment by Yamen International (Pte) Ltd for the setting up of a training institute for migrant workers, a Rs. 66 million investment by Kegalle Plantations Ltd. to manufacture furniture out of rubber wood for export, a Rs. 846 million investment of East West Bunkering Services for excavation and setting up of oil rigs, a Rs. 54 million investment by Midland Polymers for the setting up of a mini-hydro plant, a Rs. 100 million investment from Nova Concepts for the export of garments, a Rs. 83.4 million investment from New Design Manufacturing (Pvt) Ltd for the partial acquisition of Four Star Garment Manufacturing (Pvt) Ltd., a Rs. 93 million investment from Cosmic Ploy Plast (Pvt) Ltd. for PVC products and three others in the shoe, ceramics and tyre industries for exports whose investments are not known.
