Dr. Gamini Corea, former Secretary - General of UNCTAD receives the draft of the Strategic Post - Conflict Economic Development Initiative, an awareness program of the Princess Diana Institute of Peace (PDIP) in its bid to promote Sri Lankan Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe's "Regaining Sri Lanka" initiative island-wide from the Coordinator of the initiative and the Secretary-General of the PDIP, Rajkumar Kanagasingam, a Peace Award recipient from the UN based Sri Chinmoy Centre. The event was held at a private function at the world renowned economist's Horton Place, Colombo residence amidst his illness recently. The PDIP, a think-tank specialising in post-conflict to gender issues, has already conducted many awareness programs on the effects of globalisation towards women and children to ban on Anti-Personnel landmines in the island's war-torn areas under the guidance of its Patron James W. Spain, a former US Ambassador for Sri Lanka and the UN and its Honorary President Rosy Senanayake, a former Mrs. World and Goodwill Ambassador for UNFPA. |
