by Manjula Fernando and Rajmi Manatunga Prime Minister Ranil wickremesinghe will meet Chinese President Hu Jintao during a five day official tour to the People's Republic aimed at boosting Chinese investments in Sri Lanka. The Premier will chair a Sri Lanka-China business and investment seminar organised by the China Council for the promotion of international trade, Cabinet spokesman Prof.G.L. Peiris told reporters yesterday. The event has been organised to coincide with his tour from August 8 to 13. He will also call on his counterpart Zhu Rongji and the Ministers of Commerce and Agriculture. Minister Peiris said the tour is expected to be a major investment promotion move during which five important agreements are to be finalised between the two countries. The five agreements will cover economic cooperation, avoidance of double taxation, regular diplomatic consultation, rural electrification and fuel facilities at the Kelanitissa power station. |
