Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, addressing the Government Parliamentary Group Meeting held at the Parliamentary Complex yesterday said that the Government has focused its entire attention to pay a reasonable price to the cultivators for this season's paddy harvest while giving priority to increase the salaries of Government Servants. The Ministers and MPs at this meeting disclosed at length the problems they identified in the course of their house to house awareness campaign launched in the Polonnaruwa District recently. The Premier elaborated the need for finding ways to protect the farmers in the face of increasing harvest both now and in the future and emphasised that important decisions will have to be made in the near future to ensure a reasonable price for the paddy harvest and protect paddy cultivation. |
