Emirates Lanka launches its own website

Colombo has become the latest station on the Emirates network to have its own website, providing Sri Lankans with local as well as global information on the award-winning international airline.

Visitors to www.emirates.com/lk/ this month can read how they may spend three nights in Dubai, buy a Dubai Summer Surprises package or how they may earn double Skywards Miles. They also have access to a storehouse of information on Emirates, the airline's frequent flyer program 'Skywards' and on Dubai, Emirates' home base.

A 'Book Now' icon takes visitors to Emirates' host website's popular on-line booking facility, enabling them to book travel anywhere on the Emirates network, now comprising 67 destinations in 47 countries.

"This is an exciting development for Emirates in Sri Lanka," the Airline's Area Manager Sri Lanka and Maldives Tissa Bibile said. "Our objective is to take Emirates even closer to our local customers, by making them feel 'at home' on our website."

Emirates Sales Manager Colombo Devika Ellepola said: "The Emirates Sri Lanka website is a source of news and information on activities, updates and special offers specifically applicable to Sri Lanka. We are confident it will be a valuable tool to take our message to the local market, and expect the site to generate more travel on Emirates."

Travellers resident in Sri Lanka have had the facility to book flights with Emirates on-line, through the airline's main web-site, www.emirates.com since February last year. Growing at a phenomenal rate, the website currently receives over 125,000 hits per day while the Internet Booking Engine (IBE) picks up more than 38,000 unique page impressions per day.

In Colombo, Emirates is the most active foreign carrier, and connects Sri Lanka to its rapidly growing global network through 13 weekly services westward to Dubai and four services a week eastward to Singapore and Jakarta.
