SAARC interest for re-constructing South Asia The SAARC Forum of Sri Lanka managed by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) with the SAARC Construction Industry Development Council will conduct a program on July 25, from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. at the FCCISL Auditorium Vauxhall Lane Colombo 2 to create an awareness of the re-construction and rehabilitation strategies that are being adopted in other Asian countries. The program would also give an insight into the opportunities for the construction sector in the Asian Region. As India's role is significant and their experience considerable, the program will be presented by the Construction Industry Council of India, who are directly playing a pivotal role from South Asia in the re-construction activities of the West Asian Region. A presentation will be made by the Commissioner Triple "R" from the Prime Minister's office on Sri Lankan Government's Road Map for Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconciliation. A presentation will also be made on Construction and Rehabilitation of Physical Infrastructure in the Asian Region by P.R. Swarup, Director General, Construction Industry Development Council of India. He will cover the following areas in his presentation: Historic situation in the South Asian Region, Purpose of the business, Civil/Logistical requirements for Reconciliation and Rehabilitation, Employment generation through construction and peace for all. |
