Lanka eyes Malaysian investments The Sri Lankan Embassy in Malaysia is planning to host a trade and investment seminar on August 28 at Hotel J.W. Marriot in Kuala Lumpur to promote trade relations between the two countries. A Sri Lanka Week featuring a food festival and a mini trade exhibition will follow. Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Malaysia Mrs. Rosie Senanayake who met Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Ravi Karunanayake recently at the Ministry said the seminar will focus on several key areas to promote trade and investment opportunities, rules and regulations applicable in trading with Sri Lanka and facilities and incentives available for trade and investment. She said that several Malaysian trade organisations including Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MARTRADE), National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) and the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) have already agreed to sponsor and support the seminar. The salient feature of the event is one to one meetings between the Sri Lankan business delegation and their Malaysian counterparts, which is being arranged after the seminar to create a better understanding about business potential in the two countries. |
