Bauddholoka Esala Pagamana

Sri Lanka is the only country where Buddhism had a continuous existence for 2500, years. As a result we inherited a prosperous Sri Lanka whose structure was primarily based on Buddhist philosophy. But today after nearly half a century of independence we have an economic system that is subject to world fluctuations but also dependent and completely unsuited for local conditions, states ACBC in a press release.

The All Ceylon Buddhist Congress believes that this decay is entirely due to negligence of noble qualities of our heritage and the neglect of basic Buddhist principles. So we are forced to follow a rat race imposed on us by foreign powers.

It is in such a context that the Baddhaloka Esala Pagamana is held on the theme 'Towards a Virtuous Development.' This Pagamana will commence at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday July 26 at the Buddha Statue at Vihara Maha Devi Park, Colombo and will reach the Headquarters of the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress passing on its way through Liption Circus, Ward Place, Borella Cross Roads, Maradana Road, Borella Junction, D.S. Senanayake Mawatha and the Kanatte Junction.

The Maha Sangha, and Daham Pasal children and other people's organizations will join this Pagamana.

The All Ceylon Buddhist Congress solicits your presence at the above Pagamana, and you are requested to be present, dressed in white, before 8.15 a.m. on July 26 at the Buddha Statue at Vihara Maha Devi Park.
