Rebels derail four trains in northern India PATNA, India, Tuesday (Reuters) Maoist rebels derailed four passenger trains in northern India on Tuesday, but no one was hurt, a railway official said. The four trains - all slow-moving local services - derailed after several stretches of track were blown up during the night, Santosh Kumar, a spokesman for the East Central Railway zone, said in the eastern state of Bihar. "We believe that all this has happened due to a strike call by the Maoists," Kumar said. Police were trying to defuse more bombs on Tuesday and all trains in northern Bihar have been halted as a safety precaution. The Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) called for a strike across northern Bihar on Tuesday in protest at the arrest of several rebel leaders. |
