The European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka as part of the Asia Invest Technical Assistance program has developed a database consisting of approximately 4,600 company profiles from the rubber and plastics sector from Sri Lanka and Europe.

These company profiles include contact information, products/service details, turnover, number of employees, materials used, processes and trade information. This database can also be searched by country, product/service, processes, materials used and type of activity.

The database is hosted via the ECCSL web site www.eccsl.com and local and European companies will be requested to register on line with the European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka to access the database. Registration will be free. Sri Lankan companies whose profiles are already included will be informed of the launch of the databank. Intensive promotion will take place in the European Union publicising the database among companies in the rubber and plastics sector and related industries.

The main objective of this database would be to provide the Sri Lankan rubber and plastics industry a ready and comprehensive source of information on European companies supplying rubber and plastics products, components, equipment, as well as know-how and vice versa. The database will further provide EU companies with a profile of the Sri Lankan rubber and plastics sector so that the identification of partners is made easier. Such a database would be the starting point in the identification of potential business partners in Europe and Sri Lanka. It would help to shorten the research time needed by Sri Lankan and European companies interested in receiving the sustained business relations, and for Sri Lankan companies interested in receiving the consultancy services of EU firms in terms of transfer of technology and services.

The web site will be updated regularly by the European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka ensuring accurate contact details and precise information regarding companies, ECCSL said in a press release.
