The Colombo Cricket Club (CCC), which includes the Queens Club, Gymkhana Club and CH & FC presented the new president of the BCCSL Thilanga Sumathipala, a very special memento in recognition of his solid and unstinting support, extended to the CCC over the years.

Sumathipala recalled in his address, that he was introduced to the CCC as a bright 16 year old to play a Division II game by Shammi Silva the current Vice Chairman of the Gymkhana Club and Hemantha Devapriya, the present Sri Lanka "A" team coach. After his initial baptism the young Nalandian graduated through, to play 1st division cricket and is now an honorary life member of the Gymkhana Club. Sumathipala's first nomination to the BCCSL was forwarded by the Colombo Cricket Club - CCC.

A large gathering including former club presidents BCCSL Ex Co members' friends and special invitees were present on the occasion.
