The Association of Montessori Directresses and Educators has set up a special Website to enable parents, teachers and student teachers to select accredited schools for children in the 2-6 age group and teacher training centres for Early Childhood Development (ECD). An AMDE press release said parents, teachers and student teachers could access this website from July 15 this year. Currently, the AMDE is on an inspection tour to assess the schools already registered with them. Directresses/Directors of Schools or centres wishing to enrol as members for long-term accreditation facilities should write to: The Secretary, 91/17 A, Midland Mawatha, Mt. Lavinia. The website address is: http://www.montessori-lanka.org Parents are kindly advised to check on this site before enroling students at pre-schools/montessori centres/nurseries/day-care centres, kindergartens and play-group centres. The page is a sole effort by the AMDE in order to update teachers and make parents/guardians aware of the abusive manner in which montessori centres and pre-schools are run and also to educate parents and teachers of their rights with regard to ECD in Sri Lanka. The page has dedicated some content to job opportunities and training facilities. A directory of who's who in the field of Early Childhood Development will be added in due course. The AMDE calls upon all concerned to use this site and send in constructive criticism. |
