Kandy maintains unbeaten record,beat Police 41-9

Kandy Sports Club maintained their unbeaten record by crushing Police Sports Club by 41 points (4 goals, 2 tries, 1 penalty) to 9 (3 penalties) in their Caltex League. Rugby tournament match played at Nittawela yesterday. At half time Kandy led 15-6.

Kandy's backs showed pleasing form and they combined well with the forwards to fluster the Policemen. Kandy also dominated both the scrums and line outs are excelled in loose play Kandy took an early lead when their three quarters through Pradeep Liyanage touched down but Nalaka Weerakkody failed to added the extra points. Kandy 5-0.

Immediately after resumption Kandy went into action and prop Jeewa Galgamuwa scored mid left off a forwards charge and fullback Nalaka Weerakkody added the extra points. Kandy 22-6.

Five minutes later Sajith Mallikkarachchi displayed sheer speed cut through the Police defence to far left which went unconverted Kandy 27-6.

In the 25th minute Kandy player was spotted off side and Police stand off Harshana Wijeweera puts over another metre penalty to reduce the lead to 9-27.

Rohan Nishantha did a good job with the whistle.
