Mr. Novice to receive "Casilan" Cup

The Bodybuilding Federation of Sri Lanka will commence its activities for the year 2003/04 with Mr. Novice contest tomorrow at S. de S. Jayasinghe auditorium. The contest which comprises eight weight categories commences at 8 a.m. for the first round. The final part of the contest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

The sponsors for the event are Delmege Forsyth the distributors of 'Casilan 90'. These details were disclosed at a press briefing by president of SLBBF Kapila Kumara, held at Football House last Tuesday.

Kumara added that this year the Federation hopes to conduct six events for local builders. Four of these events have already been listed to held in June - 'Mr. Novice', August - 'He Man' contest, 'Most Muscular Man' contest and December - 'Mr. Sri Lanka' contest. He said that all these four contests are to be sponsored by 'Casilan 90'. He said that this is a good sign for the sport which needs support from sponsors. The Association thanks the sponsors for coming forward to help four contests without any hesitation. Adding further he said that we are still on the look out for sponsors for the other two contests that the Federation hopes to complete end of March 31. He also went on to thank 'Mushashi' who supported them in conducting these events in the past few years.

Kumara mentioned that with Casilan support the Association hope to conduct courses for coaches and referees in the future. For which the ministry approval too was granted. S. L. Sirajudee, Executive Director, Delmege Forsyth speaking on behalf of the sponsors said it is a privilege to be associated with sport for the promotion of a product which gives the best for sportsmen and women who take to this kind of sport. He thanked the Federation giving the opportunity to join hands with them.

Ravi Coonghe, Brand Manager, Casilan, addressing the press said Casilan is a product that develops muscles of builders, as such this combination with the sport is sure to raise the standard and should bring pride and glory to the country.

The mayor of Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Dhanasiri Amaratunge will be the chief guest at the finals and is scheduled to give away the awards.
