Youth soccer festival from June 27 It's going to be a football festival on June 27, 28 and 29 when the All Island Schools under-15 tournament is worked off at the M.H. Mohamed Playground, Borella, from 8 a.m. onwards. The Football Federation in association with the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association conducted an All Island 'catch them young' tournament and rousing soccer would be witnessed on these three days. Bro. Granville Perera, the energetic President of the Schools Association, is determined to bring football in the schools to the forefront again and is leaving no stone unturned to see to its success. Bro. Granville has the blessings in his endeavour from the FFSL and very soon schools football will regain its past glory. An All Island under-15 tournament was conducted and the 16 teams that emerged champions in each education zone will be seen, showing their prowess on there three days. The 16 school teams that will be dribbling for honours from June 27 are: Joseph Vaz (Wennappuwa), Al-Humaizara (Beruwela), Lumbini MV (Colombo), Zahira College (Colombo), De Mazenod College (Kandana), Holy Trinity Tamil V (Nuwara Eliya), Paragahadeniya MV (Kurunegala), Seewali MV (Ratnapura), Horawapathana MV (Anuradhapura), Zahira College (Gampola), Shivandan MV (Batticoloa), St. Joseph's College (Trincomalee), Vidyartha MV (Kandy), Wayamba Royal College (Kurunegala), St. Henry's College (Jaffna) and Malharazuliya MV (Galle). S. Anthonypillai, President, Jaffna District Football Association and Assistant Secretary, FFSL gave his unstinted support to see to the successful conclusion of the Jaffna Schools Under-15 Tourney which was won by St. Henry's. |
