by Sandasen Marasinghe A post-mortem held into the dead body of a Sri Lankan who died mysteriously in Italy found his heart and most of the internal organs missing. AJMO Dr. Mrs. D. I. L. Ratnayake noted that the cause of death cannot be decided since the internal organs were missing from the 49 year old male. The victim P. H. Nimalasiri Silva of Kadawatha who was employed as a cook in Italy had left Sri Lanka two years ago. He had died on June 15 and his remains were brought to Sri Lanka yesterday. Sandya Rohini Gunasekara (42) the wife of Nimlasiri said that she was suspicious about the death of her husband since her husband was in a healthy condition. He had phoned her on three consecutive days before the day he died and informed her that he was in good health. He has also sent her Rs. 340,000 three days before his death. Witness further stated that she was informed of her husband's death by her sister-in-law who is employed in France who later saw the body of her husband. This was revealed at an inquest held by the City Coroner Edward Ahangama. The inquest was postponed for August 2. The first post-mortem had been held in Italy. The City Coroner instructed the Police to bring the report of the post-mortem held in Italy. Evidence was led by PC Antony (27444) of the Katunayake Police. |
