Kandy drub CH 35-13 By Kandy Sports corr. Kandy Sports Club drabbed CH & FC by 35 points (2 goals, 3 tries, 2 drop goals) to 13 (1 goal, 2 penalties) to remain unbeaten in their Caltex League 'A' Division rugby tournament match played at Nittawela yesterday. At half time Kandy led 25-6. Match winner for Kandy was their star winger Dhanushka Pushpakumara who scored 3 scintillating tries to flush CH & FC. A notable feature was that Kandy worked their 'line' as often as possible which paid rich dividends. Kandy Sports Club could not have hopes for a better start as in the very first minute of play Kandy's stand off Sajith Mallikarachchi intercepted a pass and sent the ball to winger Dhanuska Pushpakumara who caught CH & FC defence napping and sprinted away to score by the left corner flag. Nalaka Weerakoddy missed a difficult kick at goal. But made amends five minutes later when he executed a neat 30 metre drop goal. Referee Shamrath Fernando. |
