Trincomalee correspondent Under the Asian Development Bank aided fourth project the Mahaweli is to be tapped at Neelapola in the Seruwila division from where water will be pumped to Pachchanoor in the Muttur division where a treatment plant will be erected. Treated water will be supplied to Toppur, Pachchanoor and Muttur to benefit over 35,000 persons. Three towers are to be erected at Toppur, Pachchanoor and Muttur for the distribution of water. This project is estimated to cost Rs. 400m.The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has also prepared a plan to obtain water direct from Mahaweli river for the supply of drinking water to people in the Kinniya, Trincomalee and Nilaveli areas. |
