Ven. Eldeniye Saranajothi Thera, Deputy Chief Adikarana Sanghanayaka Siyane four Koralaya, President, Mahara Sasanarakshaka Bala Manidalaya and the President, Ekasath Democratic Bhikku Sangamaya addressing its members at a meeting held at Abinawaramaya temple, Eldeniya, Kadawata on Sunday, said that at this crucial moment we urge all parties interested in peace to remember that they must remain fully engaged and committed as they have a responsibility towards all citizens to make this country a peaceful and democratic country. He further said that during the last 15 months, the citizens of Sri Lanka have enjoyed freedom of movement and better access to goods and services, and a reduction in the loss of life and damage to property. According to Government reports nearly 300,000 internally displaced persons have started to re-establish their lives in the North and East. Never before have we received the support that we have now from the international community for peace and reconstruction. We must render our fullest cooperation to the government to maintain peace among all citizens irrespective of caste, creed, or religion. The wishes of ordinary citizens must be respected for them to live in peace, with security, dignity and prosperity. |
