The Government of Japan will provide a donation of US $ 100,000 (approximately Rs. 9.7 million) to the Government of Sri Lanka to be utilised to fund the continuing emergency flood relief and rehabilitation operations in the affected parts of the country. This cash donation follows a previous donation of emergency flood relief materials including tents, polyester, water tanks and electric generators etc. amounting to 19.8 million Japanese Yen (approximately Rs. 16.6 million), a press release states. Charge d'affaires of the Embassy of Japan, Hiroshi Karube will officially hand over a cheque amounting to US $100,000 to Minister of Power and Energy and Chairman of the Sub Committee on Disaster Management, Karu Jayasuriya at the office of the Minister of Power and Energy today. |
